This week we headed off to Oldham in the north west of England to a renowned builders merchant, taking with us two new trucks that will change the way they work for the better. The builders merchant has been established for many years and last year took delivery of a fleet of trucks for their Bradford depot. These machines have proved so successful that the company decided to replicate the fleet at their new Oldham depot.

The depot in Oldham is just as busy as the one in Bradford and further expansion here has also been carried out. After taking a good look at detailed plans of the new warehouse, our Business Development Manager Jim Quinn agreed that the best option for the company would be a pair of Combilift C4000 machines coupled with a previously supplied Doosan diesel counterbalance machine for yard work.

Safety is paramount in any warehouse situation but is especially important when the products you’re working with are irregular shapes and sizes, such as the materials found in a builder’s merchant. The Combilift C4000 is able to handle a wide range of loads and is ideal for working in confined areas yet is versatile enough to work outside too.

In line with the rest of the fleet, the best financial option for the builders merchant was the contract hire route, which includes all servicing and repairs due to normal wear and tear. Both trucks were delivered on time and were swiftly put to work, meeting and exceeding the expectations of the operators.
