Sheffield based GB eye, one of the world’s leading suppliers of licensed promotional products, have recently completed a major expansion of their distribution centre. This necessitated additional materials handling equipment and Ability Handling, as their incumbent supplier, were able to offer a perfect solution utilising an eclectic mix of trucks from four different manufacturers; Aisle-Master, Still, HELI and Doosan.
Founded in 1986, GB eye quickly established its position as the UK's leading poster supplier. With subsequent rapid growth, GB eye secured its place as one of the world’s leading suppliers of licensed products with thousands of customers in over sixty countries and an enviable roster of over two hundred brand licenses. 
The recent completion of the extended Distribution Centre, improved IT systems and state of the art printing centre and frame production lines has increased capacities, created sustainable growth and provided greater flexibility to develop new product ranges.
Previously using Aisle-Masters, a Still order picker and a Doosan electric counter balance truck, GB eye needed additional machines to make full and effective use of the additional space available by doing more picking in very narrow aisles and using racking up to 10.5m high. Our solution was to supply a wire guided Still MX-X48 Turret truck to be used for combined stacking and order picking and a Still EKX-X48 for dedicated order picking. These are complemented by a new Aisle-Master AM20SHE with an 11m mast which can work in the slightly wider additional racking and open wall racking area plus work outside to load/unload side curtained lorries.
The final piece of the puzzle is a pair of HELI CBD20 ride-on powered pallet trucks to load/unload lorries in the loading bays. All the original machines have been re-purposed and with all trucks now dedicated to a function, productivity has been increased, saving time, energy and money.
