An array of jobs will be the result of a new, multi million pound offshore wind renewable base which will be situated in Scotland.

Doosan Power Systems a Korean firm is to locate their research and development centre in Renfrew, this move will be under agreements with Scottish Enterprise, creating initially around 200 jobs. Developing from this initial investment the aim is to then expand the establishment so that it would include an assembly and manufacturing facility too.

A ten year plan has been drawn out which predicts that overall 1,700 jobs will be created with 700 of these being through direct company recruitment. That is not all though! Another 1000 will be created which will see people employed within the supply chain.

Seen as a move which has strengthened the relationship between Doosan and Scottish Enterprise we can only hope that over the next few years that market leading, cutting edge technologies will soon occur.

Doosan are also rumoured to be in discussion with Scottish Enterprise about a plan to set up manufacturing and assembly facilities in Scotland. With Scotland chosen as the destination for three energy engineering giants then it is going to be playing a vital role within the energy industry supply chain.
