Over £4,000 raised in first charity 5-a-side football tournament.

Friday 16th July was the date of Sheffield based GB Eye's first ever charity event. Despite looming clouds and showers throughout the day a lively crowd turned out to watch 10 teams take to the pitch to battle it out for glory (and charity!) on the field at the Firth Rixson Aurora Sports Centre near Sheffield.

- Ability have recently helped GB Eye by advising on racking layouts and suitable product choice to meet the requirements of their newly expanded warehouse operation, GB Eye now operate an Aisle-Master free roaming in 1.8m aisles, an Atlet Man-Up order picker and a Doosan electric forklift.

- As a long term supplying partner GB Eye invited Ability Handling to take part in a 5 A Side football tournament in support of Sheffield based charity, Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice.  Each of the teams were asked to contribute a donation to the charity in order to take part, further fund raising activities followed including an impressively stocked raffle and auction which saw a framed signed Chelsea shirt go for £255.

- Following a gruelling afternoon of tense qualifying matches, the final saw the host team GB eye take on the Bluebell Wood Allstars charity team. Fittingly victory went to the aptly named Bluebell Wood Allstars who took the tournament trophy via a single winning goal in the final.

- "GB Eye's management and staff have done cracking job for a great local charity, they had a superb turnout, we all had a fantastic time and importantly everyone donated generously to Bluebell Wood. A big thanks to Steve Birk and the team at GB Eye and also to all our fellow contributors and individuals who made this happen!" Lee Brown, Sales Manager.

With the event so well attended and generous contributions received from key partners such as Ability Handling, HMV, 20th Century Fox, Nickelodeon, Liverpool FC, Evolution Print and Deeset, GB eye have considered the event a resounding success and are already looking forward to plans for 2011.
