Our History
Origins
Ability Handling was established in 1989 by Roger J. Hardman who for many years had been involved with the service and repair of agricultural machinery, contractors plant equipment and transport.
Parkway Market Depot
The business, originally based in Parkway Wholesale Markets, specialises in the hire, sale and service of forktrucks and sideloaders. The Company's aim, to provide an economical and reliable service, has ensured its success and growth.
Acres Hill Lane Depot
After only three years at the original site the company expanded into a second depot at Storage House, Acres Hill Lane, Sheffield. Owing to the acquisition of these workshops, it was possible to refurbish and overhaul larger machines and the business continued to expand.
Barbot Hall Industrial Estate, Rotherham
After just a few more years operations were consolidated to a single site on the Barbot Hall Industrial Estate at Rotherham. The spacious workshop and large yard area enabled the company to refurbish or repair any size of truck and also provided a centralised location to offer a rapid service response to breakdowns on customer sites and can offer replacement equipment if necessary.
North Anston Trading Estate, Sheffield
In 2015 the company took a significant step forward when it acquired the Materials Handling and Electric Vehicles business of SEV. As a consequence the company gained a freehold property at M1 Jn31 and after completing a refurbishment moved all operations there in May 2016. In 2021 we completed the build of a new warehouse to store our new and used machines.
